  • Poster of The Future Is Unwritten at Villa Ciani, Lugano NFT Week, with Federico Clapis' floating marble torso holding a fetus above the Earth

The Future Is Unwritten was the crypto art exhibition at the heart of Lugano NFT Week, organized by Lugano Living Lab, the digital innovation laboratory of the City of Lugano, on the ground floor of Villa Ciani. Curated by Ivan Quaroni and Linda Tommasi, with free entry, it presented a selection from the collection of the Poseidon Group, described in the press as one of the largest and most prominent NFT collections in Europe. Established names such as Beeple, XCOPY, Hackatao, Dangiuz and Skygolpe, along with two CryptoPunks, hung alongside emerging artists chosen by the curators, while the upper floor was devoted to gaming and collectible NFTs.

Federico Clapis was listed among the established crypto artists and featured on the exhibition poster. His works were shown on tall vertical screens set inside the villa's rooms, in front of walls with old framed portraits and under gallery spotlights. One screen carried Babydrone in Space, edition 42 of 324, with its drone lifting a marble-like bundle above the Earth among a refrigerator, a fire hydrant and other drifting objects, and a caption with a QR code. A second piece shows a white female torso, opened to reveal a fetus holding a device, floating in orbit next to a hard hat, an anvil and a folding chair.

The juxtaposition of animated digital sculpture and historic interiors made visible a question Clapis' work keeps returning to: how technology enters the most intimate moments of human life, from gestation to care.
