Lugano NFT Fest
Group exhibition by Holy Club Group
Lugano, Switzerland
NFT Fest & Web3 Conference was a five-day festival in Lugano devoted to NFTs and blockchain culture in art, gaming, fashion and business, spread across the Palazzo dei Congressi, Villa Ciani, Asilo Ciani, the Casinò, the lakefront and Via Nassa. Its NFT Art strand was announced with exhibitions by international artists, Federico Clapis among the first names cited alongside Giovanni Motta and Dangiuz, in a programme of more than fifty artists, talks and installations supported by the city's blockchain initiatives.
Clapis also took part in Cyber Dreams – Sogni Digitali, a free group exhibition at the Asilo Ciani on viale Carlo Cattaneo, built from the collection of Poseidon DAO with Ilaria Stirpe as art director. Over forty artists, among them Beeple, Andrea Crespi, Hackatao, Marc Simonetti and Giuseppe Veneziano, were shown across seven rooms and a central patio, around the border between waking and dreaming and between real and virtual. The footage from the festival shows Clapis' Digital Growth – Flooded presented on a vertical screen in a room flooded with red light, beside a metal truss draped with hanging cables: a cracked, graffiti-covered egg holding a baby, half submerged in water before a hazy industrial skyline. A holographic figure glowing behind a metal grille appears in the same red setting.
The festival confirmed Lugano's ambition to present itself as a crypto-friendly city, and it placed Clapis' work in a dense, immersive staging rather than a neutral gallery, close to the dystopian and dreamlike tone the exhibition set out to explore.
