Lugano NFT Fest is a festival devoted to NFTs and Web3, organised by Roberto Gorini and held around the Palazzo Civico, Lugano's town hall, and the adjacent Piazza della Riforma. In this edition it ran alongside TECH fest and WUF, short for We Understand the Future, a format dedicated to new art forms connected with emerging technologies, in a weekend promoted together with the City of Lugano. The arcaded patio of the town hall hosted keynotes and podcasts, while temporary exhibitions and digital galleries were spread through the festival spaces.

Federico Clapis took part through the curation of WUF. The views from the event show a tall vertical LED wall standing on a metal truss under the vaults of the Palazzo Civico courtyard, between stone columns and a classical statue in a niche. On the screen his works appear as animated digital sculptures: Babydrone, the drone carrying a newborn in a sling, set on a white plinth and shot through with glitch patterns in red, pink and gold, and a pink stone-like figure whose face is covered by a block resembling a visor while one hand rests on the chest.

The pairing of a historic civic building with a large digital screen reflects the direction of his recent work, in which the language of classical sculpture is translated into moving images designed for screens and virtual spaces. The festival placed this research within a Swiss city that has positioned itself as a hub for blockchain and digital culture.
